1) Figure 1 shows the Swiss Karabiner 31 (k31).
2) While the rifle is pointed in a safe direction, pull the bolt back and ensure the magazine is empty.
3) Remove the magazine by depressing the magazine release on the right side of the magazine.
4) Depress down on the bolt release (right side of receiver) and pull the bolt to the rear and out.
5) Loosen the upper barrel ring screw.
6) The upper barrel band is hinged and should be opened as shown in figure 6.
7) Remove the upper barrel band.
8) Unscrew the lower barrel band screw only partially. Do not remove the screw.
9) Depress the band spring and slide the lower band forward.
10) Slide the lower barrel band over the front sight.

 

11) Remove the handguard and set aside.

 

12) Unscrew front guard screw.

 

13) Remove front guard screw.

 

14) Unscrew the rear guard screw.

 

15) Remove rear guard screw.

 

16) Remove the trigger guard and magazine guide.

 

 

17) Remove the barrel and receiver assembly from the stock.

Reassembly Instructions

18) Replace the barrel and receiver assembly into the stock.

 

19) Replace the trigger guard and magazine guide.

 

20) Replace rear guard screw.
21) Replace front guard screw.

 

22) Partially tighten both guard screws. Fully tighten the front guard screw.

 

23) Fully tighten the rear guard screw.

 

24) Place the handguard back onto rifle.
25) Place lower barrel band over front sight. Make sure sling swivel points to left side of rifle.
26) Depress the band spring and slide lower band back into place.

 

27) Tighten the lower barrel band screw.
28) Slide upper barrel band onto stock and handguard.

 

29) Close the hinged top of the upper barrel band.
30) Tighten the upper barrel band screw.

 

31) Return bolt to receiver.
32) Insert and lock magazine in place.

 

 

33) Figure 33 shows the reassembled Swiss Karabiner 31 (k31).
