How to:

Disassemble and Reassemble the British Enfield #2 MK IV Training Rifle  Bolt. 

Disassembly

1) Make sure rifle is pointed in safe direction.

2) Pull the bolt all the way to the receiver.

3) Inspect receiver to make sure rifle is not loaded.

4) Press bolt head counter clockwise until you hear an audible click (as shown in figures 3 and 4).

5) Remove bolt from rifle.

6) Wipe and clean external surface of bolt assembly.

7) Rotate bolt head counter clockwise.

8) After unthreading bolt head from bolt body, remove it and set it aside.

9) To disassemble the bolt assembly you actually need a specialized tool (as shown in figure 10).

I purchased the tool shown from www.e-gunparts.com. The part number is - 281780 and the description is - Firing Pin / Bolt Disassembly Tool for around $11.00 plus shipping.

10) Use the slotted screwdriver end of the bolt assembly tool to remove the striker screw at the rear of the cocking piece.

11) Insert the hollow end of the bolt assembly tool into the bolt assembly (with the striker/firing pin inside of the tool).

12) Position the bolt handle down against the table edge so it does not move (as shown in figure 13).

14) Make sure the two teeth or prongs at the end of the tool align with the two grooves on the striker/firing pin.

15) Turn the tool counter clockwise until the striker/firing pin is loose.

Note: Make sure to apply adequate pressure down and release slowly as not to allow the main spring to shoot the striker/firing pin out of the bolt handle.

16) Remove the bolt assembly tool.

17) Remove the striker/firing pin.

19) Remove main spring.

20) Remove cocking piece from rear bolt body.

Reassembly

1) Place main spring over rear/thread portion of the striker/firing pin.

2) Place striker and main spring back into bolt handle.

3) Place cocking piece over threaded portion of striker that is extended out of the rear of the bolt handle.

4) While holding striker, bolt handle, and cocking piece - insert bolt assembly tool and rotate clockwise to tighten striker into cocking piece.

5) You are finished tightening the Striker when it is flush with the surface of the cocking piece and it is aligned to allow the installation of the striker screw (as shown in figure 22).

5) Install striker screw.

6) Use bolt assembly tool to tighten striker screw.

7) Place bolt head on bolt assembly as show in figure 25.

8) Tighten bolt head on threads by rotating it clockwise.

9) Insert bolt back into receiver.

10) Once bolt has been pushed as far forward possible rotate bolt head clockwise until it snaps down.

11) Close bolt assembly and you have finished.
