Here’s my story…..(email us with yours…)

So, I go out to the range…lugging both my K-31 and my FR8.  It’s about 15 degrees out, with a wicked wind blowing up to 40 MPH…real “nice” weather.  I should have caught a clue when I got to the range and no one was outside….but…NOOOOO…I had driven all the way there and I was going to SHOOT!  I should have waited….

The wind was gusting so hard, every time I thought I had a decent sight picture, WHAM, the wind blew me to one side.  Then, of course, I’m stealing myself against the wind and it STOPS!  I topple over…nearly.  And let’s not talk about frozen trigger fingers.  Gee, how does someone have trigger control when you can’t feel your finger?  Oh well.  That’s how the bullets fly…

We had 22 individual shooters this time.  Quite a few out of country shooters as well.  A strong showing of the obvious Swedish and Swiss rifles, as expected.  And, as expected, those two took top honors.

Just so that you know, the top category 1 handload was Rem brass, using a Rem. 140 gr bullet.  The top category 2 handload was Norma brass, Vihtavouri N160 (49g) powder and the Sierra .308 HPBT Match 168 gr bullet.

Great results and great turn out!  Thanks to everyone that shot.  As always, the top shooters of each category will get a Surplusrifle.com certificate (sorry, it has no monetary value!).

On that note, there will be some logistical changes coming into affect with Match #6 (Enfields), namely, the “send to address” will be changed such that the targets will come directly to the scorer rather than being shipped to one side of the country and then back half way to the Midwest.   This will allow for faster results being posted and quicker turn around and setting up for the next match.  You see the new address soon on the match announcement.

Our current schedule has a postal match being completed every 6 weeks throughout the year.  There may be other matches as well run concurrently. Keep up to date on the web site for more info as it comes out.

Our door prize this time was a donation of a $25 gift certificate from Midway USA.  I would have to wager an easy guess that 99% of the readers and shooters on the Surplusrifle.com web site know of and many of these have ordered from Midway.  Midway is one of, if not THE, best shooting sports supplier around.  They have EVERYTHING it seems for shooting, regardless if it’s for hunting, competition or just for plinking.  And they have probably the best selection of reloading equipment and supplies around.  Take a look at their web site.  Sign up and get their monthly sales flyers.  AND, to top it off, those of us with C&R licenses can sign up and get dealer pricing as well!  Thank you Midway!

Drum roll please…

$25 Midway Gift Certificate goes to: Dan U. of Colorado Springs, CO

Surplusrifle.com 2004 CD-ROM and Surplusrifle.com Manual of Choice goes to:  Dave T. of Indianapolis, IN

Surplusrifle.com Manual of Choice goes to: Paul H. of Ambridge, PA.
