We have been keeping our shooter tally at a consistent mid 20’s now, which is really good!  Good job to all the entrants and thanks for making this work!

I would have to wager a guess and say that Arebelson would be very happy to see this many followers of the Mosin-Nagant.

A good mix of locations, rifles and ammo.  And the Canadian contingent is still going strong.  Hats off to the shooting gang up north.  Which brings up the question why the rest of us can’t get someone else to shoot our rifle for a match?

Why do we include the ammo type?  To help others make choices about their rifle’s fodder.  With these matches we see a wide gauntlet of ammo.  I noticed that even the “new” light load 7.62x54R ammo was used.  Advertising says that it’s accurate out to 100 yards with a much lower recoil.  I have been meaning to try it out, but I do not want to buy a can of it just to try.

Again, top winners of each category will receive a printed certificate for this match.

No real issues about entries this time.  It was pretty obvious which rifles were eligible for use.

Keep checking your printed targets to make sure that the black area is NO larger than 6”.  There may have been some confusion about the “6 target” rule.  There are two views on this.  First, you can practice all you want, then you shoot 6 targets, one after another, no discards, and take the best 3.  The alternative (which I followed) was print out 6 targets, take ONLY these to the range and shoot them, using the best 3 for score.  I will be more clear on which direction we want to take this in Postal #5 (coming right up……..)

Notice that this match was our first sponsored match from a corporation.  Lee Precision sent us a copy of their 2nd Edition Reloading Manual.  You can see a review of the manual posted on the main web site (surplusrifle.com).  The Lee company is one of the mil surp shooters best friends in the fact that not only are their products very affordable for us cheap-sters, but they also have nearly all the odd mil surp calibers as well.

The moment everyone has been waiting…..

Door prize #1, J. Gaulden, WI, wins the 2nd Edition copy of the Lee Loading Manual

Door prize #2, T. Raether, WI, wins Numrich No Gunsmith Scout Scope Mount

Door prize #3, S. Russell, NS Canada, wins Two Tubes of Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner

Many thanks to all of the shooters.  Let’s remember Charles Buckner (Arebelson) for the information that he provided to many of us as a moderator on the forums at surplusrifle.com.  And many thank yous to Lee Precision for their door prize sponsorship.

As always, we are open for suggestions and comments.  Have a better idea how to do this?  Drop us an email.

Now….stay tuned for Postal Match #5………..
