1) With the rifle pointed in a safe direction, open the bolt and make sure the rifle is not loaded. 
2) While depressing the trigger, remove the bolt from the receiver.
3) Unscrew the cleaning rod.
4) Remove the cleaning rod.
5) Unscrew the tang screw.
6) Remove the tang screw.
7) Unscrew the trigger guard screw.
8) Remove the trigger guard screw.
9) Remove the trigger guard by pulling straight upwards.
10) Depress the floor plate latch.
11) Open the floor plate.
12) Depress the magazine follower and compress the follower spring.
13) Remove magazine follower and floor plate assembly from magazine.
14) Depress the forward band spring.
15) Slide the forward band forward.
16) Depress rear band spring.
17) Slide rear band forward.
18) Remove the handguard.
19) Lift barrel and receiver from stock.
20) Using a pointed object push the trigger pin out of the trigger.
21) Figure 21 shows the trigger pin removed from the trigger.
22) Unscrew the bolt stop screw.
23) Remove the bolt stop screw.
24) Remove the trigger and bolt stop.
25) Separate the trigger and bolt stop. 
26) Unscrew the ejector screw.
27) Remove the ejector screw.
28) Push the ejector spring forward.
29) Lift the front of the ejector spring so it clears the notch on the ejector.
30) Remove the ejector spring.
31) Remove the ejector.
32) Unscrew the stock cap screw.
33) Remove the stock cap screw.
34) Remove the stock nose cap.
35) Unscrew the upper butt plate screw.
36) Remove the upper butt plate screw.
37) Unscrew the lower butt plate screw.
38) Remove the lower butt plate screw.
39) Remove the butt plate.

Reassembly Instructions

40) Install the butt plate.
41) Install the lower butt plate screw.
42) Tighten the lower butt plate screw.
43) Install the upper butt plate screw.
44) Tighten the upper butt plate screw.
45) Replace the stock's nose cap.
46) Insert the nose cap screw.
47) Tighten the nose cap screw.
48) Combine the trigger and bolt stop as shown in figure 48.
49) Figure 49 shows the trigger and bolt stop correctly assembled.
50) Insert the trigger and bolt stop.
51) Install the bolt stop screw.
52) Tighten the bolt stop screw.
53) Insert the trigger pin.
54) Figure 54 shows the correctly assembled trigger assembly.
55) Insert the ejector.
56) Slide the ejector spring into the slot.
57) Figure 57 shows the installed ejector spring.
58) Insert the ejector spring screw.
59) Insert the ejector spring screw.
60) Insert the barrel and receiver into the stock.
61) Figure 61 shows the barrel and receiver properly seated in the stock.
62) Install handguard up against the rear sight.
63) Slide the rear band onto the stock and handguard.
64) Slide the rear band over the rear band spring and snap into place.
65) Slide the forward band onto the stock and handguard.
66) Slide the forward band over the forward band spring and snap into place.
67) Depress the magazine follower and compress the follower spring.
68) Replace the magazine follower and floor plate assembly in the magazine.
69) Close the floor plate and depress the floor plate latch to latch in place.
70) Replace the trigger guard.
71) Replace the trigger guard screw.
72) Tighten the trigger guard screw.
73) Replace the tang screw.
74) Tighten the tang screw.
75) Insert the cleaning rod.
76) Tighten the cleaning rod.
77) Insert the bolt.
78) Push the bolt fully forward.
79) Close the bolt. You have completed the disassembly and reassembly of the Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 rifle.
