LT-2
Sight Adjuster |
|
We
now have the LT-2 Sight adjusting Tool
available. This is the second generation of our
sight adjusters and incorporates improved
features suggested by our user customers. The
hammer and punch adjusting method is just a not
very precise method of adjusting the front sight
on a rifle. This tool allows you to make
adjustments to your front sight to achieve
maximum accuracy from your rifle. It will pay
for itself in ammunition the first time you use
it. One of the
major changes which have been made are the
elimination of one shoulder. This allows more
lateral movement for adjusting the sights on an
Enfield. The LT series, if you remember, work on
an Enfield if used in the upside down position
although they were originally designed for the
Mosin 91 and 91/30.Of course the end cap must be
removed on an Enfield for the sight to fit but
this is removed anyway even if using a hammer
and punch. This also allows for complete removal
of the sight blade on all models which it fits.
The LT-2 is quality hot blued for
durability as well as looks.
The adjusting screw has been
given a little more "dog" (removed threads) on
the end to allow more lateral movement.
Additionally the temper of the adjusting screw
is a wee bit softer to avoid marring the finish
on the rifle being adjusted. I will replace free
any bent screws from whatever cause. - Stan

Sometime earlier this year I
released a
short article on Stan Ward's LT-1
Mosin-Nagant Front Sight Adjustment Tool. Since
then Stan has made modifications and
improvements and released the next version
called the LT-2. |
|
 |
The LT-2 is still a well made
and innovative device that allows you to adjust
any 1891/30 or 1891 Mosin-Nagant rifle but now
also will allow you to adjust the front sights
on an Enfield rifle. |
|
 |
Figures 3 & 4 show the LT-2
mounted on the front sight of a Mosin-Nagant
1891/30 rifle. |
|
 |
Once the LT-2 is in place and
with the screw aiming towards the direction you
wish to adjust the sight you will need to take a
wrench and slowly tighten the screw until the
front sight has moved the desired distance. What
is great about this method is that you get to
move the front sight only the exact
distance you wish to adjust without going past
it. The hammer and punch method does not allow
for this. Many times I have tapped past my mark
and then have had to tap the sight back in the
opposite direction only to overshoot my mark
again. |
|
 |
To adjust the sights on an
Enfield No. 4 rifle you must first unscrew and
remove the foresight (front sight) protector
screw. |
|
|
|
 |
Then with the foresight (front
sight) removed you can adjust the windage of the
front sight. |

Stan Ward makes the LT
2 Mosin Nagant and Enfield Front Sight Adjustment Tool for the 1891/30 or
1891 Mosin
Nagant or Enfield rifles (pictured above). It is a very
high quality made tool designed specifically for
adjusting the rifle's front sights, very easily without the need for a hammer
or punch. These are available for $18 plus, $2 postage each
by contacting Stan at
stanward@charter.net. Stan's tool will last a lifetime
and is a very good tool investment.
