CLASSIC M1 GARAND An Ongoing Legacy for Shooters and Collectors by Jim Thompson

The second in a series of books by Jim Thompson on the M1 Garand. The first book: The Complete M1 Garand: A Guide for the Shooter and Collector covers the basics while this book goes into much more advanced topics. Not an entry level guide for the beginning collector, but a high level overview of collecting the M1 Garand today.

Provides information and insight about parts and parts kits available on the market today. Also contains an interesting and useful chapter on the documented delivery dates of M1 Garands from WWII through the Post-War years.

One very interesting section covers smoothing out the ejection capabilities of the rifle so it is more kind to brass for reloading purposes.

There is even a section containing step-by-step instructions for tuning the M1's trigger. The instructions have detailed photos so even the amateur home gunsmith can smooth out the trigger without any fear as the author describes the almost benign process as  - "where you almost can't break anything."
