A Collector's Guide to the '03
SPRINGFIELD, is one of the easiest to read and entertaining
firearm related books that I have read lately. The size of
your average
coffee table book, it is not written like the normal
technical/collector's manual, but follows more of a
narrative style, like a good history book. A history book that anyone would find
interesting enough to read, even if they were not really an
avid firearm collector.
The author's stated intent was to write a
threshold book that is a stepping off point for
the more complex and in-depth works about the '03, described by
Canfield as a relatively compact and comprehensive
"Collector's Guide".
I agree, Bruce Canfield wrote a good
introduction to the '03.
A great story with just enough history
and detail to pull you into the world of the Springfield
Collector. Great high-definition, black and white
photos of the Springfield '03 in action, from the early days of
production just prior to the "War that would end all Wars",
through the Second World War, and into the Korean
War.
Overall - easy to follow, easy to digest,
and easy to understand.
If you have not purchased any '03 books
yet and are looking for a way to quench your interest, then
this would be a well spent $22.
