Loaded Chamber Indicator

 

The figure above shows the pistol without a cartridge in the chamber.

Note in the figure above the small protrusion behind the rear sight. This indicates that there is a loaded round in the chamber.

Take Down Latch

 

The figure above shows the P.38 take down latch in its closed and locked position.

With the slide pulled back and locked in place the take down latch can be rotated counter clockwise from the three o'clock position until about the eight o'clock position (where it stops) and this will facilitate the removal of the slide assembly.

Manual Slide Stop Operation

 

The figure above shows the pistol's slide stop lever in its normal position. The slide stop lever moves up and down as shown by the arrow.

Pulling back on the slide with an unloaded magazine will engage the slide stop. Also pulling back on the slide and manually engaging the slide stop will work as well.
 

Safety Operation

 

The figure above shows the P.38 pistol's safety in the "fire" position.
