To remove the magazine you press the magazine catch to the rear of the magazine well in the direction of the arrow in the picture above.

Dry Firing

Do not dry fire the Vz-52 pistol as it will likely cause damage to the firing pin.

The slide will stay open after the last fired cartridge casing is ejected from the port. You can manually lock the slide back without having a magazine loaded. The picture above shows the slide stop in its lower unlocked position.

Pull the slide to the rear and manually push up on the slide stop until the slide locks open.

The picture above shows the direction and place to push upwards on the the slide stop to lock open the slide. To unlock the slide just pull back and allow it to slide forward.

Safety Operation

The CZ Model 52 Pistol's safety lever has three positions. The picture above shows the lever in the "Safe" position.

The picture above shows the lever in the 'Fire" or "Off" position.

Pushing upward fully places the safety lever in "de-cock" position.

Important Safety Note

The Vz-52 is over 50 years in age. It is not recommended for safety reasons de-cocking of the pistol's hammer be done while a cartridge is loaded in the chamber. There is a slight chance of primer ignition if trigger, safety, or hammer parts are worn or broken. In any case always treat the pistol as if it were loaded and make sure it is pointed in a safe direction before de-cocking the hammer.
