Figure 4 shows the position of the safety when in the
"Safe"
position. |
| 5)
The Vz-52 has the ability to de-cock the hammer by pushing up on
the safety lever. |
Note |
| Do not dry fire the Vz-52
pistol as it will likely cause damage to the firing pin. |
Important
Safety Note |
| The Vz-52 is over 50 years in
age. It is not recommended for safety reasons de-cocking
of the pistol's hammer be done while a cartridge is
loaded in the chamber. There is a slight chance of
primer ignition if trigger, safety, or hammer parts are
worn or broken. In any case always treat the pistol as
if it were loaded and make sure it is pointed in a safe
direction before de-cocking the hammer. |
| 6)
Push up on the safety lever to de-cock the pistol's hammer. |
| 7)
Figure 7 shows the pistol's hammer has been de-cocked after the
safety lever has been depressed in an upward direction. |
| 8)
Figure 8 shows the Vz-52's take-down latch and the direction
it must be pulled to separate the slide from the pistol's
frame. |
| 9)
Pull downward on the take-down latch and slide the
slide forward on the frame. |
| 10) Remove the
slide from the frame and set aside. |

| 11)
Figure 11 shows the rollers and cam. Also note hole in
center of roller cam. |
| 12)
Figure 12 shows my tool of choice for inserting into the
cam hole and removing the barrel assembly. I have found that a
3/16 punch is a perfect diameter and has good overall length to
apply pressure while sliding the cam. |
| 13)
While the muzzle end of the slide is pointing towards you and
you have a firm grip on the slide - insert a tool in the
cam
hole. |
| 14)
Pull the cam towards you slowly while making sure to keep a firm
grip on the slide. |
| 15)
Pivot the tool towards you and point the rear of the barrel at a
slight upwards angle. |

| 16)
Allow the recoil spring to expand. |
| 17)
Once the recoil spring is no longer compressed remove the tool
from the cam hole and pull the barrel assembly out of the slide. |
| 18)
Separate the recoil spring from the barrel assembly. |
| 19)
Using a flat edged tool lift up the grip retainer and slide
to rear of pistol's grip. |
| 20)
Remove the grip retainer. |
| 21)
Remove the right grip panel. |
| 22)
Remove the left grip panel. |

Reassembly Instructions |
| 24)
Replace left grip panel. |
| 25)
Replace right grip panel. |
| 26)
Replace the grip retaining spring. |
| 27)
Place the recoil spring over the barrel as shown
in figure 27. |
| 28)
Holding the slide with the muzzle end pointing towards
you return the barrel assembly as shown in figure 28. |
| 29)
Insert the tool into the hole in the cam and pull the
cam towards you compressing the recoil spring. |
| 30)
Compress the recoil spring and make sure the barrel
assembly rest completely inside the slide. Slowly
allow the recoil spring to expand until the cam
assembly stops and the barrel is locked into place. |

Figure 31 shows the forward lugs and channels
on the slide and frame. |
| 32)
Figure 32 shows the rear lugs and channels
on the slide and frame. |
| 33)
Align the rear lug and channels and then the
front lug and channels. The slide should be
sitting (as shown in figure 33) about 1/4 inch
forward on the frame. |
| 34)
Slightly pull the slide to the rear and the
take-down latch will engage. Cycle the slide to make
sure there is no binding. |
| 35)
Allow the slide to rest full forward on the frame. |
| 36)
Point the pistol in a safe direction and press upward on the
safety lever to de-cock the hammer. |
| 37)

| 38)
Insert the magazine. |
