Loading Operations

The issued 1911 magazine holds 7 - .45 ACP cartridges.

The magazine is loaded one cartridge at a time.

With weapon pointed in a safe direction: Insert the located magazine into the magazine well located in the pistol's grip.

The magazine locks into place by firmly applying upward pressure.

Grip the rear of the slide.

Pull the slide all the way tot he rear. Note position of fingers in relationship to the trigger.

Allow slide to slide forward.

Unloading

With weapon pointed in a safe direction: Depress the magazine release.

Remove the magazine.

While your fingers are not touching the trigger, grip the rear of the slide.

Pull the slide to the rear ejecting the cartridge.

Check one more time to make sure the chamber is clear.

Manual Slide Stop Operation

The slide stop is located on the left hand side of the pistol. Pull the slide to the rear and push the slide stop up so it rests in the slide's detent as shown above.

After manual releasing the slide stop the slide will slide forward.

Safety Operation

There are two safeties on the 1911. The first being the grip safety as shown above. The grip safety must be depressed prior to the pistol firing.

The safety on the 1911 is one of the most ergonomic is design for a right handed person. It is operated by swiping the thumb on the right hand while gripping the pistol.

By swiping the thumb upwards the safety is engaged and the pistol cannot be fired.

To disengage the safety: while gripping the pistol swipe down with your thumb.

The photo above shows the safety engaged.

The photo above shows the safety disengaged or in the "off" position.
