1)
Make sure rifle is unloaded. Make
certain the safety is in the forward
position.
2)
Lift the rear sight leaf if your rifle has
one.
3)
Depress the bolt head catch. Pull the bolt to the rear. When the bolt
head is over the bolt head catch allow the
bolt head catch to push the bolt head
upwards. Rotate the bolt head counter
clockwise until its flat side points to
twelve o'clock as shown in figure 3.

Remove the bolt.
5)
Depress the magazine catch and remove the
magazine.
6)
Unscrew the foresight (front sight)
protector screw.
7)
Remove the foresight (front sight) protector
screw.
8)
Remove the foresight (front sight)
protector.
9)
Unscrew the forward band screw.
10)
Remove the forward band screw.
11) Remove the forward
band.
12) Unscrew the rear swivel screw.
13) Remove the rear swivel screw and the
sling swivel.
14) Spread slightly the lower band and
remove from the stock.
15) Remove the front hand guard.
16) Remove the rear hand guard.
17) Unscrew the front trigger guard screw.
18) Remove the front trigger guard screw.
19) Unscrew the rear trigger guard screw.
20) Remove the rear trigger guard screw.
21) Do not force the trigger guard out. If
the trigger guard is stick in place lightly
tap on the sides of the arch until it can be
easily removed.
22) If the fore-end is tight or stuck you
can use a piece of wood and tap lightly at
the top rear of the fore-end on both sides
until the fore-end can be removed easily.
23) Lift the fore-end straight off of the
receiver. Do not pivot the stock off.
24) Loosen the butt plate screws.
25) Loosen the butt plate screws.
26) Remove the butt plate.
27) Remove felt wad with a cut-off clothes
hanger (as shown in figure 27).
28) The hanger easily hooks felt wad
(as shown in figure 28).
29) Insert large flat blade screwdriver into
butt stock and place in groove of stock
bolt. Using large pliers, unscrew stock bolt
counter-clockwise.
30) Remove butt stock.
31) Figure 31 shows the stock bolt.
32) Unscrew the locking bolt screw.
33) Remove the locking bolt screw.
34) Remove the locking bolt spring.
35) Remove the locking bolt and safety
catch.
36) You do not have to separate the locking
bolt and safety catch I usually leave
assembled and just set aside. For these
instructions I separated them.
37) Tap the rear sight retaining pin
upwards.
38) Remove the retaining pin.
39) Tap out the rear sight pin.
40) Remove the rear sight pin.
41) Remove the rear sight pin.
42) Remove the rear sight plunger.
43) Remove the rear sight plunger spring.
44) Depress the front of the sear spring and
move it out of the notch in the rear of the
magazine catch.
45) Remove the sear spring.
46) Push out the sear pin.
47) Remove the sear pin.
48) Remove the sear.
49) Unscrew the magazine catch screw.
50) Remove the magazine catch screw.
51) Remove the magazine catch.
52) Remove the bolt head catch plate.
53) Remove the bolt head catch spring.
54) Remove the bolt head catch.
Reassembly

55) Insert the bolt head catch.
56) Insert the bolt head catch spring.
57) Place the magazine catch in place.
58) Set the bolt head catch plate in place.
59) While holding the magazine catch and
bolt head catch plate in place, insert the
magazine catch screw. The magazine catch
screw threads into the bolt head catch
plate.
60) Tighten the magazine catch screw.
61) Insert the sear and sear pin.
62) Place the long end of the sear spring in
the notch in the sear. Using a screw driver
compress the front of the sear spring and
place it into the notch in the rear of the
magazine catch.
63) Replace the rear sight plunger spring.
64) Insert the rear sight plunger as shown
in figure 64 with the flat side pointing
towards the right side of the rifle.
65) Insert the rear sight plunger as shown
in figure 65 with the flat side pointing
towards the right side of the rifle.
66) Turn the rear sight pin until the hole
is vertical and aligned with the groove in
the left side of the receiver.
67) Insert the retaining pin.
68) Tap in the retaining pin.
69) The top of the retaining pin should be
flush with the top of the receiver.
70) Figure 70 shows the locking bolt and
safety catch correctly assembled prior to
installation.
71) Assemble the locking bolt and safety
catch.
72) Install the locking bolt and safety
catch.
73) Replace the safety spring.
74) Reinstall the locking bolt screw. Hand
tighten so the locking bolt screw is snug,
but the safety still functions easily.
75) If removed insert the stock bolt into
the rear of the butt stock.
76) Figure 76 shows the front of the butt
stock with the stock bolt protruding.
77) Reinsert butt stock into butt socket.
78) Insert a large flat blade screw driver
into the butt stock trap. Using a pair of
pliers, turn large flat blade screw driver
clockwise until stock bolt is tight.
79) Reinsert the stock bolt wad into the
butt stock trap of the butt stock. Using
clothes hanger, push the stock bolt wad all
of the way down until it rest flat on the
stock bolt.
80) Install the butt
plate.
81) Tighten both butt plate screws.
82) Figure 82 shows the correctly installed
butt plate.
83) Slide the hand guard retaining ring to
the rear of the barrel up against the front
of the receiver. Make sure it is upright.
84) Slide the fore-end stock till it snuggly
rests up against the butt socket (as shown
in figure 84).
85) If needed, tap
lightly with a non marring tool such as a
wooden dowel on both sided of the rear of
the fore-end stock.
86) Replace the trigger guard.
87) Replace rear guard screw.
88) Reinstall the front trigger guard screw.
89) Tighten the front guard screw.
90) Tighten the rear guard screw.
91) Reinstall rear hand guard.
92) Replace the forward band.
93) Replace the front hand guard.
94) Spread slightly the lower band and
replace on the stock.
95) Replace the rear swivel screw and the
sling swivel.
96) Tighten the rear swivel screw.
97) Replace the forward band screw.
98) Tighten the forward band screw.
99) Replace the foresight (front sight)
protector.
100) Replace the foresight (front sight)
protector screw.
101) Tighten the foresight (front sight)
protector screw.
102) Lift the rear sight
leaf if your rifle has one. Make certain the
safety is in the forward position.
103) Insert the bolt with the flat side of
the bolt head pointing to twelve o'clock.
Depress the bolt head catch and then push
the bolt forward.
104) Lower the rear sight leaf.
105) Slide the bolt fully forward.
106) Insert the magazine.

No. 4 rifle.
