Collecting and Shooting the Mosin-Nagant 7.62 Carbines

Loading

Place rifle with muzzle pointing in safe direction.

Insert 5 or less rounds into magazine as shown in Loading Single Rounds - Loading 2 . Close bolt (this action chambers first round into the chamber) and engage safety.

Place rifle with muzzle pointing in safe direction.

Open bolt and pull to rear of receiver. Turn rifle over. Push the magazine open catch towards the trigger guard.

Open the bottom of the magazine as shown in Unloading 2.

While holding the magazine open - allow all rounds loaded to fall away as shown in Unloading 3 .

Safety Operations

To engage the Mosin-Nagant safety - pull the cocking piece to the rear and rotate counter clockwise.

When you have rotated the cocking piece as far as it will go, counter clockwise, let it slide forward against the left hand side of the Mosin-Nagant receiver as shown in Safety 2.

Safety 3 shows an disengaged Mosin-Nagant safety.
