I have found that padded rubber, quick
clamps are invaluable in disassembling
firearms. Compress the upper band spring
with the quick clamp. This leaves your hands
free to remove the upper band.
8)
Normally I would use a non marring tool to
tap the upper band forward but found you
need a very thin tool to past the clamp and
still achieve a good angle. I used a drift
and tapped very softly the rear of the
bayonet lug.
9)
Remove the upper band.

Using the same method I placed a small flat
tool against the lower band spring and then
compressed it with a quick clamp.
