Disassembly Instructions
Figure 1 shows a typical
MAS 36 rifle.
1) Open the bolt as shown in Figures 2 and 3.
2) While
depressing the trigger, remove the bolt as shown in Figure
4.
3) Press on the bolt end and
turn it clockwise until it releases.
4) Remove
the bolt end.
5) Remove
the striker assembly.
6) Remove the extractor
by pushing back on it with a flat blade screw driver.
7) Then slide
it off of the bolt.
8) Depress
the magazine release buttons.
9) Remove
the magazine cover.
10) Remove
the screw at the rear of the trigger guard.
11) Lifting
from the rear to the front, remove the trigger guard.
12) Move the rear stock back
a little. While holding the trigger back remove the stock.
13) Depress
the bayonet release.
14) Remove the bayonet.
15) Remove screw in handguard band.
16) Remove
handguard band.
17) Figure
21 shows a two point style screw, requiring a two point
wrench.
18) If you do not have a two point
wrench then take a very small punch and at an angle, tap the screw
counter clockwise until enough of the screw head is exposed to locked
onto with visegrips.
19) Remove front barrel band
20) Remove
upper handguard.
21) Remove
barrel and receiver assembly from lower handguard.
22) Figure 26
shows a disassembled MAS 36 rifle.
Reassembly Instructions
1) Reinstall
lower handguard.
2) Reinstall upper handguard.
3) Slide
front barrel band onto stock and insert screw and tighten down.
4) Install rear handguard. You
will have to use something like a visegrip to keep the band together
while screwing in the retaining screw
5) Install
bayonet.
6) While
holding down trigger, reinstall rifle stock.
7) Reinstall
trigger guard and retaining screw..
8) While
holding bolt body, slide extractor back and lock into place.
9) Insert
striker.
10) Lock
striker into place as shown in figure 38.
11) Insert
bolt end and spring.
12) While
depressing bolt end, rotate counter clockwise until it locks into
place.
