1) With the rifle
pointed in a safe direction pull back the
bolt carrier handle and ensure the rifle is
unloaded.
|
 |
2) Allow the bolt to
close and lock. |
 |
3) Depress the magazine release. |
 |
4) Pivot the magazine
forward. |
 |
5) Remove the magazine from the rifle. |
 |
6) Remove the magazine
follower and spring from rifle. |
 |
7) Using a small flat
blade, remove the magazine follower spring
from the magazine follower. |
 |
8) Separate the magazine
follower spring from the magazine follower. |
 |
9) Turn receiver cover release counter clockwise to 12 o'clock
position. |
 |
10) Push the receiver cover forward. |
 |
11) Lift the receiver cover up and pull
it to the rear
to remove. |
 |
12) Remove the receiver cover and separate inner recoil spring
from outer recoil spring. |
 |
13) Remove the short inner recoil spring
from the receiver cover. |
 |
14) Separate the short inner recoil spring
from the recoil spring guide. |
 |
15) Separate the forward inner recoil spring
from the recoil spring guide. |
 |
16) Remove the outer recoil spring from the
bolt carrier. |
 |
17) Pull the bolt carrier and bolt back to
the opening in receiver
rails. |
 |
18) Pivot bolt carrier and bolt forward and
out of the receiver.

 |
19) Pivot the bolt to at the rear as shown
in figure 19.
|
 |
20) Separate the bolt and bolt carrier. |
 |
21) Figure 21 shows the gas cylinder plug and the gas
cylinder plug release button. |
 |
22) Using a cartridge or (safer) a
punch, push in on the release
button and turn the gas cylinder plug (if you are facing
the muzzle) clockwise until the plug can be removed. |
 |
23) Remove the gas cylinder plug. |
 |
24) Remove the gas piston. |
 |
25) Remove the gas piston spring. |
 |
26) Unscrew the end cap screw. |
 |
27) Remove the end cap screw. |
 |
28) Remove the end cap. |
 |
29) Unscrew
the lower band screw. |
 |
30) Remove the swivel. |
 |
31) Remove the lower band. |

32) Remove the upper hand guard. |
 |
33) Remove the lower hand guard. |

41) Unscrew the rear guard screw. |

42) Remove the rear guard screw. |

43) Grasping both ends of the trigger assembly, slowly and carefully
lift the assembly. |

44) Remove the bolt stop assembly. |
 |
45) Remove barrel/receiver assembly from stock. |

46) Lift front of sliding dust cover as shown in figure
46. |

47) Turn sliding dust cover as shown in
figure 47 and
then remove. |

48) Drive out the hammer pin. It may be
staked so you may need to brake the staking
before the pin will move.
Staking: The
process of permanently fastening two parts
together by recessing one part within the
other and then causing plastic flow of the
material at the joint. |

49) Remove the hammer pin by pushing a small
punch or tool through. |
 |
50) Keep the hammer compressed with the palm
of your hand and remove the tool. |

51) Slowly allow the hammer spring to
expand. |

Remove the hammer springs.

the outer hammer spring. |

Unscrew and remove the two screws on
