spring from the follower housing.
Alternate Disassembly Instructions as
suggested by R. Ted Jeo
13a) This is perhaps the hardest and
trickiest part of the Carcano rifle. I find
that I don't have the finger strength or
dexterity to compress the flat spring and
pop out the retaining pin.
14a) I devised an alternative method using ½
of a wooden clothespin. I had to sand/file
the sides of the clothespin to fit in
between the sides of the follower holder.
Then I slowly compress the entire device in
a vise.
15a) Once the tension is released, it is
quite easy to drift out the retaining pin.
16a) The parts of the follower.
17) Unscrew the clip
latch screw.
18) Remove the clip latch screw.
19) Remove the clip latch and clip latch
spring.
20) Separate the clip latch spring from the
clip latch.
21) Unscrew the forward band screw.
22) Remove the forward band screw.
23) Slide the forward band off of the end of
the barrel.
24) Depress the rear sight spring.
25) Swing the rear sight to the rear if it
is not already
26) Depress the lower band spring. I have
found that padded rubber, quick clamps are
invaluable in disassembling firearms. I
compress the spring with the quick clamp.
This leaves my hands free to remove the
upper band.
27) Using non-marring tools such as a wooden
dowel and a mallet, tap the lower band
forward. Because the band rests in a groove
in the hand guard the hand guard will move
forward as well.
28) Remove the clamp and continue to
tap the lower band and hand guard forward.
29) Slide the lower band
off of the barrel and remove the hand guard.
30) Separate the
barreled receiver from the rifle stock.
31) Unscrew the upper screw on the side rear
sling bar.
32) Remove the upper screw on the side rear
sling bar.
33) Unscrew the lower screw on the side rear
sling bar.
34) Remove the lower screw on the side rear
sling bar.
35) Remove the side rear sling bar.
36) Unscrew the rear screw on the rear sling
swivel.
37) Remove the rear screw on the rear sling
swivel.
38) Unscrew the forward screw on the rear
sling swivel.
39) Remove the forward screw on the rear
sling swivel.
40) Remove the rear sling swivel.
41) Unscrew the upper
butt plate screw.
42) Remove the upper
butt plate screw.
43) Unscrew the lower
butt plate screw.
44) Remove the lower butt plate screw.
45) Remove the butt plate.
47) Remove the sear pin.
48) Remove the trigger assembly.
49) Remove the sear
spring.
50) Remove the ejector.
51) Separate the bolt
stop front he trigger assembly.
52) I do not recommend
disassembling the trigger further unless
necessary to replace broken or worn parts.
If necessary there are two trigger stud pins
pictured in figure 52. They are normally
staked into place and will be difficult to
remove.
Reassembly Instructions
53) Insert the ejector
aligned as shown in figure 53.
54) Insert the bolt
stop.
55) Install the sear
spring.
56) Place the trigger

sling swivel.
73) Install the rear
screw on the rear sling swivel.
74) Tighten the rear
screw on the rear sling swivel.
75) Install the forward
screw on the rear sling swivel.
76) Tighten the forward
screw on the rear sling swivel.

over the front sight with the sling loop
pointing to the left side of the rifle.
80) Place the lower band
over the slot on the hand guard.
81) Slide the hand guard
and the lower band until the lower band
slides over the lower band spring and
locks into place.
82) Not alignment of
bayonet lug in figure 82. The round end of
the lug should be pointing towards the from
the the barrel.
83) Slide the upper band
over the front sight.
84) Install the upper
band screw.
85) Tighten the upper
band screw.
86) Install the cleaning
