"The New GG&G EOTech Lens Covers by Jamie Mangrum"
Description: I hate the idea of having a piece of stretchy fabric over my EOTech scope as a cover. But up until recently that is all I had and I have got to say it really took away a big part of the "cool" factor on the rifles I had them installed on. Plus I would go shooting and then afterwards have to hunt around for the dang things, so there is a practical side to all of this as well. Then I saw an ad for GG&G that they offered a lens cover for the EOTech. About dang time someone came out with something to solve this problem.

"The Spirit Behind a Gun by Mark Trope"
Description: If you decide to acquire title to that new gun, you become the one to build its character. You are designated to be the keeper of its history and stories. The first stage in a new arms life may very well be a range shooting session to bore sight and adjust the scope, or develop an accurate load. Taking on its first hunt writes a chapter in its history, and adds to the character of the gun. A target or match arm’s first “Top Gun” win is always a story to be told, and retold! As we said, a new gun‘s history has yet to be written, but, what about a used arm?

"Visualock by R. Ted Jeo"
Description: Two words come to mind in describing this innovative way of firearm security…evolutionary improvement. Think of the Visualock as being the next best thing in firearm locks. If you need to make sure that a firearm is secure, whether it be by law or by home necessity, the Visualock system allows you to not only VERIFY from a distance the weapon is secure, but also store the weapon without bulky trigger locks or damaging cable locks.

"Surplusrifle.com is Alive Again! by Jamie Mangrum"
Description: Finally after the chemo was finished I had my first CT exam that came back as cancer free. That same day my Daughter graduated from college and it was my 24th wedding anniversary. All around it was a phenomenal day. The chemo caused post effects of Peripheral Neuropathy. I lost about half my strength and almost all of the nerves in my feet and hands. But, I was alive! Slowly but surely my strength is returning and at least the feeling in my hands is returning. Hence this article.

"What A Serve!!! by R. Ted Jeo"
Description: What I got from Bill was a nice mil surp waterproof case that contained the launcher. He also sent a supply of 7.62 NATO and 5.56 NATO parade blanks. He does sell blanks in both of these calibers as well as 7.62x39 and 7.62x54R. Also, he recommends that only parade blanks be used with tennis balls, as grenade blanks would very well blow right through your tennis balls. And, obviously, you would NEVER use standard ball ammo.

"M1A Upgrade by Jamie Mangrum"
Description: I am one of those folks that if I know something mechanical like a rifle has something that is broken or can be easily broken it bothers the living hell out of me. I get some sort of compulsion into my head that is not satisfied until I rectify the problem. In walks the UltiMAK M-14 / M1A Forward Optic Mount 1913 (Picatinny) style rail system for $199. Basically it is a CNC machined aluminum hand guard that has a Picatinny/Weaver style rail. To me this was the perfect solution to my problem. I laid down the cash and had one in the mail to me shortly.

"Hip Pocket Snake Medicine by Mark Trope"
Description: The snakes in West Texas do not share the easygoing nature of their distant, eastern relatives. Not only are they willing to fight on principle, they can also inflict a bite that has the potential to turn deadly. For such disagreeable encounters, nothing beats a shotgun when an aggressive snake needs to be swiftly dispatched. However, a shotgun is neither compact, nor easily hung from the wait belt. This is where a sidearm shines!

"H&R M-12 Scope Mount Revisited by R. Ted Jeo"
Description: Always on the look out for anything firearm related, I found postings on a forum site about how a company was making some sort of a scope mount for the M-12. Intrigued, I did some research and found BKL Technologies Inc. (BKL makes all sorts of scope mounts and adapters, there is even an adapter that you can use on the Winchester 52). BKL sent me one of their adapters (model 612, 3/8” dovetail adapter for the M12, $20) and a scope mount (model 253, 3” Unitized Cantilever Scope Mount, $35). Both of the items came in a “parkerized” flat black finish.

"The Other 1911 - The Taurus PT-1911 by Mark Trope"
Description: John Moses Browning was a firearms genius. Volumes could be written about the man and his accomplishments. One of his greatest, if not the single greatest accomplishment of his career was the design of the Model 1911, semi-automatic, .45 ACP chambered pistol. Browning’s design came at a time when other semi-automatic pistols were somewhat delicate, extremely complicated, or downright fussy and lacking in reliability. Some of the designs of that era encompassed all these faults!

"On Point – The German SG. 84/98 III Bayonet for the Kar 98k Rifle by Ralph Cobb"
Description: One aspect of the SG 84/98 III's history is the absence of production records. The number of bayonets produced from 1934-1945 is not known. The 98k Bayonet Collector's Network (BCN) was founded in 1996 by John C. Jacobi, as an organization focused around collecting of the German SG. 84/98 III bayonet. A continuing project that dates from the BCN's beginning is to re-construct the production record of the SG. 84/98 III bayonet, through collection and analysis of maker and serial number data.

"REVIEW: Huber Concepts Fully Adjustable Trigger For The Swiss K-31 by Mark Trope"
Description: The pull weighs came in with a high of 4-½ lb, to a low of 4 lb even. I added in the pull weight of my rifle (4-¼), and averaged them. The average weight-of-pull for a Swiss K-31 is 4-¼ lb. Good, my rifle is average. That makes the test all the more accurate. Now, let’s look at the Huber Concepts Trigger.

"BENCHTOPICS: Shooting Congruence: Sizing & Lubricating Cast Bullets For Success (Smith & Wesson 1917, Installment III) by Mark Trope"
Description: As we said, all lead bullets require lubrication. What kind, and how much lubrication depend on the velocity of the bullets. Some loads (starter loads) listed don’t have very stringent lubrication requirements. Others, (medium and high velocity) require all the lubrication they can get.

"TS200 Windage and Elevation Adjustable Rear Sight and Fine Front Sight for SKS Rifles by R. Ted Jeo"
Description: The TS200 is an improvement over the TS100 in that it allows for both elevation and windage adjustments on the rear sight. If you already own a TS100, you can order the TS220, which is the elevation adjustable aperture to upgrade you sight to a TS200. These sights help the shooter in that they increase the sight radius by 10 inches from the normal SKS sights and give a similar sight picture of the familiar Garand and M16 rifles. Neither sight requires any drilling or tapping of your original rifle components. There is just one piece that needs to be permanently altered in most rifles, which we will see in a moment.

"BENCH TOPICS: Half Dozen Good Reasons To Choose A Lee Multi - Cavity Mold by Mark Trope"
Description: At that time it was nothing to be shooting 100 to 150 pistol rounds in a session. At one point, another friend brought over a 4-cavity mold ferrous mold made by an old-line company. Talk about production speed. If the 2-cavity mold seemed 4 times as fast as a 1-cavity mold, the 4-cavity mold seemed to be moving at “warp speed”!

"SKS Trigger Master: A Visit with Kavaari by R. Ted Jeo"
Description: Now my very first question was…what does his forum name (“Kivaari” pronounced KEY-VAR-EE) mean? The answer was that it is Finnish for “rifle”. That should give you are REAL good hint what one of his collecting interests lies in. Tom says he enjoys all firearms, but he really has an interest in the Finnish Mosins and British Enfield rifles. Of course, when I asked him what his most favorite was, his answer was tongue in cheek…whatever he has ammo for…. Matter of fact, as we were talking at the kitchen table, he showed me his latest project. He had picked up an Ishy Enfield from AIM and was in the process of cleaning it up and working it over. I should explain what I mean by working it over.
